Joe's journey with music began with playing guitar. It didn't take long for him to realize that he wanted to be a part of something bigger, something that would allow him to collaborate with other musicians and showcase his skills on stage. So, he switched to bass and performed with many jazz and rock groups in New York and Boston.

The times at Berklee College of Music was a transformative experience. It was there that he honed his skills and discovered a passion for recording, composing and producing, where he continues to make waves today.

When asked about his biggest musical influence, Joe's answer comes without hesitation: The Beatles. From the first moment he heard their music, he was hooked. The genius of their songwriting and the magic of George Martin's production captured his imagination and fueled his own creative fire. But Joe's interests don't stop there. He's also a big fan of electronic music, with Daft Punk and The Chainsmokers serving as major sources of inspiration.

Now based just outside of Boston, Joe works with talented musicians and creatives from all over the world. His dedication to his craft and his ability to bring out the best in others has earned him a well-deserved reputation among a wide variety of clients and projects. Whether he's producing or collaborating with others, Joe's passion for music, audio and technology shines through in everything he does.

His work has appeared in shows such as:

Catfish (MTV), Real World Road Rules Challenge (MTV), Pink Collar Crimes (CBS), Growing Up Hip Hop (WE), Black Ink Crew (VH1), Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars (WE), and Total Bellas (E!)

Joe was attentive, knowledgeable, and creative. He is both a schooled musician and a recording engineer which is an asset in the studio.

Joe is the best music producer/studio operator/engineer I’ve had the pleasure to work with. His instincts are right on and his ability to bring out the best in the artist he works with is impressive. Easy to work with and Berklee educated, Joe Clar is highly recommended.

- Alex R.

Joe helped my band and I record an EP back in 2013. We didn’t have much time to record as a full band, and Joe went above and beyond to make sure we were able to track all the parts while we could. When it came to mixing and mastering, Joe helped us attain the sound we had imagined for the project and went along with our ideas, but was also more than happy to offer creative input when we asked. We were very content with the final product knowing that the quality was strong and it stayed true to what we had originally envisioned when we were writing the songs. Overall, working with Joe was a great experience.

- Noah H.

Recording with Joe was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Not only did he take the time to understand my vision, but always had his own suggestions and creative style to contribute. Highly Recommended!

- Lizzie C.
