Joe grew up in Rochester, NY and began playing guitar when he was 12. Soon after that, he switched to bass because he wanted to play in rock and jazz bands. During the years spent at Berklee College of Music, he transitioned from performing to producing which he still continues to pursue.

His biggest musical influence is The Beatles. Since the first time he heard them, he has always been inspired by their songwriting and George Martin’s production. Other influences include Daft Punk and The Chainsmokers, which sparked his interest in the creative and exciting world of electronic and pop music.

Currently based just outside Boston, MA, he works with musicians and creatives from all over the globe.

His work has appeared in shows such as:

Catfish (MTV), Real World Road Rules Challenge (MTV), Pink Collar Crimes (CBS), Growing Up Hip Hop (WE), Black Ink Crew (VH1), Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars (WE), and Total Bellas (E!)

Joe was attentive, knowledgeable, and creative. He is both a schooled musician and a recording engineer which is an asset in the studio.

Joe is the best music producer/studio operator/engineer I’ve had the pleasure to work with. His instincts are right on and his ability to bring out the best in the artist he works with is impressive. Easy to work with and Berklee educated, Joe Clar is highly recommended.

- Alex R.

Joe helped my band and I record an EP back in 2013. We didn’t have much time to record as a full band, and Joe went above and beyond to make sure we were able to track all the parts while we could. When it came to mixing and mastering, Joe helped us attain the sound we had imagined for the project and went along with our ideas, but was also more than happy to offer creative input when we asked. We were very content with the final product knowing that the quality was strong and it stayed true to what we had originally envisioned when we were writing the songs. Overall, working with Joe was a great experience.

- Noah H.

Recording with Joe was one of the best experiences I’ve had. Not only did he take the time to understand my vision, but always had his own suggestions and creative style to contribute. Highly Recommended!

- Lizzie C.
